Submit a Christmas tree ornament to the Ewa Beach Public & School Library, and win a prize! Ornaments may not be larger than 4 by 4 by 4 inches, and they may not be made from breakable materials such as glass and should not contain any perishable items (i.e., food, candy, etc.). Hanaire made by Shofu Kai ceramists of the Hawaii Potters' Guild

This exhibit of traditional hanaire is presented by Shofu Kai, a group of ceramists at the Hawaiʻi Potters’ Guild who have been studying together to learn about the artistry of utensils used in the Japanese tea ceremony, a cornerstone of Japanese culture. The hanaire (flower vase) with chabana (flowers) and ojiku (scroll) are prominently displayed in the alcove of a tea room.  Each guest in a tea ceremony visits the alcove and respectfully views these tea utensils prior to the…
