Family Film Friday: Queen of Katwe

The 2017 Family Film season continues with Queen of Katwe, directed by Mira Nair and starring Lupita Nyong’o, David Oyelowo, Madina Nalwanga, Martin Kabanza, and Taryn “Kay” Kyaze. This moving film is based on a true story. Check out the plot summary below!

“A Ugandan girl’s life changes forever when she discovers she has an amazing talent for chess, in this celebration of the human spirit.”

This program is sponsored by the Friends of Kaimuki Public Library. The film’s runtime is 124 minutes. Rated PG and recommended for children aged 10 and up. Plot summary provided by the studio’s DVD release. The screening will take place in Kaimuki’s Ground Level Meeting Room.
