Celebrate All Saints’ Day with some spine-tingling scary verse by local poet Eric P. Shaffer. He will read poems classic and contemporary on subjects natural and supernatural, familiar and far-fetched. The work will focus mostly on the elements of everyday life that leave us a little frightened, but with a little insight, too. Dr. Shaffer has authored six books of poetry and is an associate professor of English at Honolulu Community College.
The following four books by Dr. Schaffer will be available for purchase with the assistance of Friends of the Library Kapolei (“FOLK”): A Million-Dollar Bill; Lahaina Noon; Living at the Monastery, Working in the Kitchen; and Portable Planet. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to FOLK.
All ages welcome. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver.
Program schedule is subject to change. Contact the library 10 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter or if special accommodations are needed.
