Help kick-off the Summer Reading Program! This free three-hour event will be held at the Hawaii State Library on Oahu on Saturday, June 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Starting May 23, you can pre-register online for the Summer Reading Program at this library or at the event.
Children ages 5 and older can help create a Lego® city with Play-Well TEKnologies. Participants will have 30-minutes to use LEGO® pieces and build their favorite Hawaii landmark. Six LEGO® building sessions will be available. The event will be held in the Library’s main lobby. The registration period has ended. Walk-in participants will be accepted at the event and will be based on space availability.
Attendees will be able to learn about robotics and participate in fun activities, conducted by members of Blue Fish Robotics. There will be robotics soccer, robotics racing, a simple programming activity, and learn about their underwater robot. This two-hour event will be held in the Library’s First Floor Reading Room and is suitable for ages 5 and older.
Try your block building skills with Giant Jenga! The whole family can participate in this fun and exciting activity in the Library’s front porch near the main entrance.
Silly and pop-up building fun! This activity will be in the Library’s Courtyard and is suitable for ages 3 and older. All children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver.
See “Hardware Science” in action and delight in a make & take craft. This activity will be in the Library’s Language, Literature & History Section (first floor) and is suitable for ages 3 and older. All children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver.
Build your own paper rocket and blast it off with the Stomp Launcher! All materials to build the rocket will be provided. This activity will be conducted by Cub Scout Pack10 Kaimuki and will held in front of the Library on the Great Lawn. Suitable for ages 5 and older. All children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver.
Participate in a fun-and-easy craft activity, conducted by Meadow Gold Dairies. Using recycled milk cartons, attendees will be able to build their own bird seed feeder. All craft materials will be provided. This activity will be held in the Library’s Courtyard and is suitable for ages 3 and older. All children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver. Bring your camera! You will also be able to meet and take photos with Meadow Gold’s Lani Moo & Calci.

Children ages 3 and older will enjoy a fun and interactive storytime in the Edna Allyn Room for Children. All children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver.
Ronald McDonald® will use a creative mix of music, magic, skits and games to reinforce the value of giving back and the enjoyment that comes from it. Children will learn to share their talents, time and gifts and are encouraged to share the things they are good at or are interested in. This 40-minute program will be held in the Library’s Edna Allyn Room for Children and is suitable for ages 3 to 8. All children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver.
