The History and Making of the Ukulele

Ukulele maker Frank Suster

“Uncle Frank” Suster will share one of his favorite hobbies, ukulele making. His presentation will focus on the history of ukulele making from early to present day and briefly cover the basic steps of making an ukulele. He will also sing a few songs for the kids. Uncle Frank has made over 100 ukuleles of all different shapes. He is the great, great grandson of Manuel Nunes, inventor of the ukulele.

Uncle Frank has worked at a local hardware store for over 48 years in various positions and is currently the company’s Facilities Manager. Uncle Frank is also a DIY and Safety Expert, many of his tips have been featured in the Star Advertiser and various television spots.

Program schedule is subject to change. Contact the library 10 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter or if special accommodations are needed.
