Learn about our library's history in celebration of our 80th year! Our building was dedicated on June 5, 1937 and built for less than $14,000. It is the oldest public library building still in operation on Hawaii island. Did you know that Honokaa town's first library was located in the Sakata Building. The Hawaii State Library is pleased to present a rare look at Chinese-American women's history told through legal cases fought in the Supreme Court of the U.S. and the supreme courts of its states.  Herstory features rare photographs and case descriptions of the efforts by Chinese-American women to gain legal status in the U.S. 8 hanging banners and 9 display boards are on display now at Kapolei Public Library 2nd-floor center reading area and mezzanine railings.

LEGO Wall

Join our LEGO Wall community!  Children, teens and families are encouraged to imagine, create, share and build with thousands of LEGO pieces and figurines.  This free, open, community build takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm and on Tuesdays from 2:00 pm to 6:30 pm.  Space is limited.  Creations remain on our LEGO Wall for 1 month.  New creations go up on the first day of the month that the library is open.
