AV Reference Desk
This is
Hawaii's major public library resource for videocassettes, DVDs,
compact discs and cassette tapes. Audiovisual formats for all ages
are contained in this unit. Staff in the AV Unit provides
circulation services for the audiovisual materials. Reference
services for these materials are provided at the AV public service
desk when the AV librarian is on duty there, otherwise AV reference
is provided at the Art, Music & Recreation public service desk.

The AV
Unit’s compact disc and cassette tape collection covers a wide range
of musical styles such as pop, rock, reggae, rap, rhythm and blues,
country, jazz, new age, Hawaiian, gospel, ethnic, classical music,
opera, Broadway musicals, soundtrack albums, and children's music.
The CD and cassette tape collection also includes non-musical
recordings of popular fiction, classic literature, children's
stories, poetry, self-help, business advice, famous speeches, drama,
radio plays, and comedy. Note: Foreign language instructional tapes
and CDs are located in the Language, Literature and History Section.
DVD and
videotape formats also offer a variety of subject coverage. One can
find non-fiction titles on science, history, sports, drama, dance,
music, art, opera, exercise, health, travel, business, social
issues, language, education, religion, mythology, Hawaii and more.
Classic and current movie titles include action, adventure,
detective and mystery, romance, spy, science fiction, horror,
gangster, comedy, musical, animated and foreign language films.
There are also fiction and non-fiction materials on video and DVD
for children.
