As the first point of contact, the Information Desk staff refers customers to the various subject collections within the Hawaii State Library. The staff is also responsible for the graphical Internet computers and the Public Access Catalog (PAC) terminals that are near the Information Desk, and gives basic instruction in the use of the Internet computers on a sign-up basis.

This unit serves as an advisor to customers in their search for certain library materials. In addition, this desk provides information about the location of government agencies and other Honolulu landmarks, current events and other programs occurring in the area. Tours of the library are also given to adult customers, often in groups.
