ONGOING CHILDREN'S STORYTIME

Nurture your child with the love of reading by attending a Storytime
Session! These 3- to 45-minute programs are recommended for ages 3
and up.

Hawaii State Library will present two Children’s Storytime
2010 programs in the Edna Allyn Children’s Room; admission is
free:
• Toddler Time Storytime – Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
beginning January 12 through March 30. Babies and toddlers up to
age 3 are invited to hear stories, learn rhymes, sing songs, and
play with puzzles. All children must be accompanied by a parent
or caregiver.
• Saturday Storytime – Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.,
except on holidays. Families with children ages 3 and older are
invited to hear stories, sing songs, and make a simple craft.
Contact the Library two weeks in advance if a sign language
interpreter or other special accommodation is needed for these
programs.

Honolulu Theatre for Youth presents:
KEIKO AND LOUIE: BEST BEST FRIENDS (MOSTLY)
Louie needs a friend. Keiko loves to make friends. When Louie
and Keiko find each other, they also discover the ups and downs,
the fun and trouble of friendship. Created by Daniel A. Kelin,
HTY’s Director of Drama Education, this 30-minute interactive
program uses humor, movement, and participation to engage young
audiences directly in the performance. Recommended for ages 3
and older. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the
Library of Hawaii, Marriott Resorts Hawaii, Ko Olina Resort &
Marina, HMSHost, Meadow Gold Dairies, Hawaiian Telcom, City &
County of Honolulu, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

POST VALENTINE'S MOVIE

The library will be showing a post Valentine's movie on Franco
Zeffirelli's 1968 version of Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers.
This movie received international acclaim and was nominated for
four Academy awards. This 2-1/2 hour program is suitable for

GETTING IT RIGHT, HOOK & 1st CHAPTERS

Saturday, February 6, 10:30 a.m.
Are you an aspiring writer? Do you want to write but don't know
where to start? This one-hour program will feature a panel
discussion about first chapters and how important they are to
hook your reader. The panelists will include Leslee Ellenson, an
author, active member and past-President of the Aloha Chapter of
the Romance Writers of America, and romance authors Michael
Little and Lynde Lakes. Following the discussion, the authors
will read from their published works. They will also invite
questions about writing, how to get started, publishing,
connecting with other writers, and more. Program will be held in
the 2nd floor Adult Fiction area and is recommended for ages 12
