TUESDAY NIGHT PROGRAMS AT KAHUKU LIBRARY
All events and programs will be conducted in the Conference Room and are suitable for ages 12 and older, unless otherwise noted. For more information, call 293-8935.

Canning Jams & Jellies – September 6 at 6:30 p.m.
Patricia Miller prepares her own jams. She will share the process and the resulting delicious taste with you.

Plantation Life-Kahuku in the 50’s and 60’s – September 13 at 6:30 p.m.
Take a walk down memory lane and learn about the earlier plantation life in Kahuku. Angel Ramos came to Hawaii to work on the sugar plantation in 1946. He will share his wonderful collection of stories and photos to make this period come back to life.

‘Ekolu ‘Eha ‘Ike Pono (School Readiness Project Overview) – September 20 at 6:30 p.m.
This program is provided by Aloha United Way and will offer to screen children between the ages of 2 to 5. The screening will focus on vision, hearing, social/emotional needs and developmental progress.

Soul Art & One Minute Healing – September 27 at 6:30 p.m.
Teresa Camara and Laura Assum-Dahleen will share Dr. Sha’s techniques on how to awaken the healing power already present in all of us, empowering us to put our overall well-being in our own hands.


ERIC WOLF -- STORYTELLER

Eric Wolf, dyslexic storyteller and host of the Internet show "The Art of Storytelling with Brother Wolf, will share warm family stories and discuss the process of storytelling. This program is suitable for all ages. For more information, please call the library at 733-8422.


CHINESE HISTORY IN HAWAII

In recognition of the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of Modern China, two programs will be held to discuss the Chinese immigration to Hawaii and Sun Yat-sen, considered by many to be the “Father of the Nation”. Sun played an instrumental role in the overthrow of the Qing Dynasty during the Xinhai Revolution. After the success of the revolution, he quickly fell out of power in the newly founded Republic of China, and led successive revolutionary governments as a challenge to the warlords who controlled much of the nation. The Sept. 28th program will be an informational presentation. The Oct. 5th program will be a discussion for participants to share their family stories and any connection to Sun Yat-Sen. These one-hour programs are recommended for ages 18 and older. For more information, call 573-8785.


HOLIDAY HOOT: FELT CRAFTING PROGRAM
Hawaii State Library (Oahu)
Saturday, October 8, 2:30 p.m.

Participants will hand sew a small felt figure suitable as a seasonal ornament. All materials will be provided. To reserve a seat, call or sign up at the Art, Music, & Recreation Reference Desk. Walk-ins welcome until the session is full. For more information or to register, call 586-3520.


BRING YOUR OWN CRAFT SESSIONS
Kalihi-Palama Public Library (Oahu)
Fourth Friday of each month
5:00 to 10:00 p.m.

These sessions will allow adults who are looking for time and space to work on crafts, and opportunities to meet new people and share ideas. Participants must bring their own supplies, materials, tools, snack-to-share, dinner and beverages (no refrigerator or microwave oven will be available). Crafts include any arts and crafts such as paper, plastic, textile, or metal. Free table space will be provided for up to two persons per table. Four tables will have access to electrical outlets for using tools or equipment such as hot glue, heat guns, Cricut R, lamps, or sewing machines. No selling or solicitation will be allowed. Other dates for this monthly program are: February 25, March 25, April 22, May 27, June 24, July 22, August 26, September 23, October 28, November 25, and December 23. Craft sessions will be held in the library’s auditorium. Participants are requested to enter through the parking lot gate. Registration is requested as participation is limited to 20 crafters; 10 tables are available. To reserve a table, sign up at the Information Desk or call the Library at 832-3466.
