There’s a new sculpture at Aiea Public Library! Sweet is a stainless steel artwork designed by Kauai artist Wayne Zebzda that features mirrored metal orbs symbolizing individual atoms. The orbs reflect the library and highlight its role as an information hub for the community.
The sculpture’s name was inspired by a simple sugar molecule and the library’s location on the former Aiea Sugar Mill site. Sweet is a commissioned artwork of the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.
Aiea Public Library recently held a dedication and blessing ceremony for the sculpture. Make it a point to stop by the library (99-374 Pohai Place) and see how Sweet it is!
