What is PressReader?
PressReader offers access to more than 6,000 newspapers and magazines from over 120 countries in 60 languages. All you need is your Hawaii State Public Library System library card! (Please note these Hawaii newspapers are no longer available on PressReader: Honolulu Star Advertiser, West Hawaii Today, The Garden Island News, Hawaii Tribune Herald, and Midweek.)
How do I use PressReader?
PressReader is a robust news platform that offers the ability to create customized collections, alerts based on topics of interest, and to comment and share thoughts with others about content. To take advantage of all of the features, you can create a PressReader account after you click on Sign in. Click on New User and sign up with your email address and create a password.
Because the PressReader App does not enable you to login using your library card, you will need to add some information to your account. Please use these simple directions to create the necessary login information to use the app:
Once you have done this, you can launch the app on your smart device and login with your email address and password.
Downloading Content to the App
If you are in any one of our 50 library branches and open the PressReader App, you will be able to automatically download any publication that you would like to read.
If you are NOT in one of our 50 library branches, the process is a bit different. You will need to login to PressReader via any Internet browser. Then follow these steps:
When you open your PressReader App, click on Publications and the publication issue should appear in My Publications. Click on the down arrow under the publication to download.
When I start to use PressReader, it’s now showing that I need to pay for issues? What should I do?
PressReader provides access for 24 hours at a time. If you have remained logged in for more than 24 hours, the access to the collection shifts to paying. Simply log out and log back in, and you will regain access again to the content under the Hawaii State Public Library System subscription.
How do I know what publications are available?
After you login, simply click on the in the top left corner, and then click on publications.
