Honokaa Public Library

The Honokaa Public Library is temporarily closed to replace the air conditioning system and install electrical upgrades.

The bookdrop will remain locked for the duration of the renovation project. Borrowed items may be returned to any other public library during the closure.

During the temporary closure, patrons are invited to visit any public library. The two closest libraries to Honokaa are:

  • Thelma Parker Memorial Public and School Library (67-1209 Mamalahoa Highway, phone 808-887-6067)
  • Laupahoehoe Public and School Library (35-2065 Old Mamalahoa Highway, phone 808-962-2229).

We anticipate reopening in early Summer of 2024. An official date has not yet been announced. Mahalo for your patience!

About

Welcome to the Honokaa Public Library! Our small 3,040-sq. ft. plantation-style building was built in 1936 and opened on June 15, 1937. One treasure in our collection is a photocopy of the original ships’ logs that brought Portuguese immigrants to Hawaii Island. Our library is the only place in the community that rents DVDs!
