Award winning local Young Adult author John Blossom visits with a special talk about his Nautilus winning novel Mahina Rises. Free pizza for all attendees! We invite middle schoolers, high schoolers, and adults to attend this informative event to learn about writing, the book, and get excited about the sequel Makani, to be released this summer!

John says, “I am deeply honored that Mahina Rises has been enjoyed by so many readers. My goal in retirement from teaching middle and high school English and art on the Island of Hawaii and elsewhere has been to write books that can make a difference in teenagers’ lives, especially to their love of creativity, reading, and the environment.”

All attendees to programs and events during the Summer Reading Challenge at Kealakekua Library will receive a raffle ticket for a special branch prize to be drawn at the end of July!
