An event every week that begins at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, repeating until May 15, 2019
As the current school year is in full swing, members of the Farrington High School Key Club are offering a free weekly reading mentor community project at Kalihi-Palama Public Library on Wednesdays, from 3-4 p.m. Any child is welcome to listen to a story read aloud, and then the child may read aloud to the Key Club member.
We hope to nurture young readers by encouraging active listening skills, reading fluency, correct pronunciation, expression, and comprehension. Really sounds like a lot but it is just what we encourage parents, caregivers, and older siblings to do at home: read aloud to keiki plus listen to keiki read aloud.
The Key Club will continue meeting at the library through May 2019 on Wednesdays when the library is open, so please take advantage of this opportunity to have one-on-one or small group interactions all for the love of reading, books and libraries. No registration required. For more information, call 832-3466.
All programs are subject to change. If you require an auxiliary aid or accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at 832-3466 at least 7 days before the program date.
