Born on Hawaiʻi Island and raised on the islands of Maui and Oʻahu, Lyz Soto got her start in slam poetry, including coaching award-winning slam teams for Youth Speaks Hawaiʻi. Her latest work can be found in Oceans of Wonder: The Fantastic in the Pacific. She is the director of literary and conversation programs at the Hawaiʻi Council for the Humanities. She lives in Koʻolaupoko on Oʻahu with two dogs, five cats, six humans, and a whole forest of birds.
