Words have the power to set our minds and hearts free. Channel your inner poet in this beginner workshop led by one of the greatest talents in our literary community.

Born on Hawaiʻi Island and raised on the islands of Maui and Oʻahu, Lyz Soto got her start in slam poetry, including coaching award-winning slam teams for Youth Speaks Hawaiʻi. Her latest work can be found in Oceans of Wonder: The Fantastic in the Pacific.  She is the director of literary and conversation programs at the Hawaiʻi Council for the Humanities. She lives in Koʻolaupoko on Oʻahu with two dogs, five cats, six humans, and a whole forest of birds.

Best suited for young adults and adults.

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required. All programs are subject to change.
