This month’s book club pick is A Pair Of Wings by Carole Hopson. This adventurous historical fiction novel follows the life of pioneering aviatrix Bessie Coleman, who had to go all the way to Europe to learn to fly a plane due to the racism she faced at home in the United States. As one of the world’s first female pilots, Coleman learned death-defying stunts from French fighter pilots while grappling with the effects of Jim Crow laws on her family back home.
All books are chosen by members of the group. Copies are available at the library’s circulation desk. All are welcome!
