Children and families are invited to a Children’s Book Week celebration with a story and craft. This year’s CBW theme is “An Ocean of Stories”. Children’s Book Week is the twice-annual celebration of children’s books and reading. Established in 1919, it is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country, now celebrating its 105th anniversary with over 3,000 participating schools, libraries, and bookstores in all 50 states. To learn more about Children’s Book Week visit: Every Child a Reader website

Our story time book will be Uncle’s Magic Thrownet by Todd Yamashita and a craft will follow story time. This program is suitable for children ages 5-11 years old. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is not required. This program is free and sponsored by the Friends of the Hilo Public Library.

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required. For a schedule of events, go to HSPLS Events Calendar.
