This event spans three sessions, participants will need to attend all three sessions to successfully build a working robot claw. Sessions will be Tuesdays 7/20, 7/27, and 8/3 from 2:00pm-3:30pm in the Mānoa Public Library Meeting Room.

When watching Star Wars, Transformers, or any movie containing robots, have you ever wondered how robots were created? Or the inner workings of a robot? If so, these workshops are perfect for you! Over three (3) 90 minute sessions, you will build a robot claw while learning the basics of robotics and programming.  The program will be taught by Jana Woo, president of Monta Vista High School Girls Who Code Club.

This program is suitable for ages 13-18.

You don’t need coding experience to participate, this program is designed for beginners. Space is limited and registration is required. Participants will need to bring a pair of working headphones or earbuds, everything else will be provided. Materials are on loan from Girls who Code, mahalo to Jana and Girls Who Code for making this possible.

Covid-19 precautions: Participants must follow physical distancing guidelines and wear tightly-woven masks that cover their nose and mouth at all times. Hand wash stations are available.

If you need an auxiliary aid/service or other accommodation due to a disability, please contact the library at least 7 days prior to the program date. We will make every attempt to fulfill all requests for accommodations. All programs are subject to change.
