Governor Josh Green has proclaimed 2026 as the Year of Our Coastal Kuleana. To celebrate, HSPLS is once again partnering with the State Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DLNR-DOFAW) to offer free educational programs at libraries statewide.
Learn about Hawaiʻi’s wetland birds, shoreline birds, and seabirds. Local organizations will share information about nearby coastal habitats, the native birds that depend on them, and opportunities for community members to participate in conservation and volunteer efforts. Reading lists will be provided.
Program is suitable for age 8 and up. All children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver.
Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required.
