Dyslexia 101 Workshop – Free Community Workshop
Join us for an informative introduction to dyslexia presented by certified facilitators from the International Dyslexia Association (IDA). This engaging workshop is designed for parents, educators, caregivers, library staff, and community members who want to better understand dyslexia and support individuals with dyslexia.
Participants will learn about:
- What dyslexia is and how it affects reading and learning
- Common signs and characteristics of dyslexia
- Evidence-based approaches that support individuals with dyslexia
- Resources available for families, students, and educators
- Ways to foster understanding and success for people with dyslexia
The workshop includes a multimedia presentation, videos, interactive surveys, opportunities for questions and discussion, and take-home resources.
Presenters
Michelle Henderson is a certified facilitator of the International Dyslexia Association’s Dyslexia 101 workshop and serves on the Board of Directors of the Hawaiʻi Branch of the International Dyslexia Association.
Anna Logan is also a certified facilitator of the International Dyslexia Association’s Dyslexia 101 workshop and will co-present this program.
Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required.
