A deep love of hala spans oceans and cultures and all are invited to join us for three days of workshops by Keanahala, a community weaving program of Puʻuhonua Society, centered around learning about and participating in the entire process including harvesting, prepping and weaving.

Our first workshop will highlight caring for the pū hala, the harvesting of lau and initial stages of prep. The second day will focus on preparing lau for weaving. The final gathering will include the weaving of bookmarks, which will go perfectly with the books you borrow!

All ages are invited, but children under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required and space is limited to 15 people. Preference will be given to participants registering for all 3 days. To reserve your spot, please stop by the reference desk or call the library at 808-587-7577.
