The World War II years were an era of dramatic transition and change in Hawaiʻi. The effects of those changes on the lives of ordinary residents during that era were recorded and published by the Center for Oral History. Their words will be dramatically interpreted by master storytellers from the Statewide Cultural Extension Program Readers’ Theatre Ensemble, with a sampling of music from that period.  Readers’ Theatre Ensemble members are:  Nyla Fujii Babb, Joseph Miller, Janine Oshiro, Dann Seki and Bailey Matsuda.

The event will be held at Hale Mahaolu Ewalu Community Hall at 88 Ohia Ku St. in Pukalani.  Due to occupancy limits, registration is recommended.  Please RSVP with the number of attendees below.  Visitors may park their vehicles in the gravel parking lot.

Maui’s Holoholo Bookmobile will be parked outside the event and offer library services and Summer Reading Challenge registration.  Be sure to come visit us!

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required.

All programs are subject to change.  See a schedule of upcoming events at librarieshawaii.org/events.
