Fall Prevention Talk (Adults 50+)

October 4, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Older man falling down

Attention Baby Boomers! Join Project Dana’s Mike Hirano for a 60-minute talk to learn how to reduce your risk of falling and how to avoid fall-related injuries. Caregivers are welcome!

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

  • Falls are the leading cause of fatal injury and the most common cause of nonfatal trauma-related hospital admissions among older adults.
  • One-fourth of Americans aged 65+ falls each year.
  • Every 11 seconds, an older adult is treated in the emergency room for a fall; every 19 minutes, an older adult dies from a fall.

FYI…the nation’s Falls Prevention Awareness Day will be observed on Friday, September 22, 2017.

Program schedule is subject to change. Contact the library 10 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter of if special accommodations are needed.
