Class is in session! Join us for Fermentation 101, a fascinating presentation by Dr. Helmut Kae, Professor of Microbiology at Leeward Community College. 

Continuing the library’s 2026 Summer Reading Challenge theme of ʻUmeke Kāʻeo (a well-filled calabash), Dr. Kae will cover the basics of the fermentation process, as well as its historical and cultural significance around the globe.
