October is Filipino American History Month
Stop by the library for the unveiling and reception of our Filipino-American Veterans Exhibit*, curated by Filipino-American Historical Society of Hawaii.
This exhibit commemorates the unsung military service of sakadas (Filipino plnantation workers) in the Hawaii National Guard, Naval Militia, U.S Army and Navy from 1915-1919. It pays homage to the sacrifice and perseverance of Filipinos and Filipino Americans who valiantly fought for the U.S during WW II. This exhibit also acknowledges the U.S Government’s betrayal of Filipinos who fought and sacrificed themselves to protect American interests in the Pacific.
