FREE Basic Computer Skills Classes: Online Safety Tips

Staying safe online and avoiding scams is important for anyone- young or old! Learn how to spot cyber scams, prevent viruses and malware and what to do if you think you may be victim.

Do I need to bring my own computer?

Each individual library will provide a number of Chromebooks for use during the classes.

Are These Classes Free?

Yes, the classes are all 100% free! HSPLS is partnering with the State of Hawaii’s Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, Workforce Development Division to provide these courses. Funding was provided by a U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration grant.

Who Is Teaching These Classes?

The class instructors will be members of the Mapunawai Inc team, a registered 501c(3) non-profit in the state of Hawaii. We have taught thousands of students, and encourage anyone wanting to learn to join us!

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required. All programs are subject to change.

ALERT | All public libraries will need to perform a damage assessment to ensure the safety of staff and the public. For libraries that open on Monday, they will reopen at 1:00 p.m. if it is safe to do so. Tuesday - Saturday locations will reopen at 1:00 p.m. if it is safe to do so.
