Get ready for the Back-to-School season by learning some pro tips on early literacy. Please note, this program is best suited for caregivers only.
Reading Specialist Noel Del Cid will share fun and proven methods to assist keiki and their caregivers on their reading journey.
Using her background as a licensed Hawaii State Teacher in K-6th grade and her course work as an Orton Gillingham/Dyslexia specialist, Noel will share proven reading methods. Her philosophy on learning to read is to keep it fun and teach phonics in an explicit meaningful way.
She teaches reading through a sensory approach in a systematic way. Instead of memorizing irregularly spelled words through their formation of letters, she shows kids how to map and tap the words through individual sounds.
We hope to see you there. Once again, this program is best suited for adult caregivers who work directly with young children learning how to read.
Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required.
