Honouliuli National Historic Site’s pop-up exhibit is traveling across the state to commemorate 80 years of closure. The series of seven (7) panels give foundational information about Honouliuli Internment Camp and its impacts as well as National Park Service stewardship of the site. For those who have never heard of the park, they are a great source of knowledge to learn an overview of the history. The exhibit will be on display in the library throughout the month of August. 

At the end of the month, attend a special screening of Voices Behind Barbed Wire:  Stories of Hawaiʻi on Saturday, August 29 from 3-4:30 PM at Mitchell Pauole Center. After the film, enjoy a panel discussion hosted by film director Ryan Kawamoto, Carole Hayashino, President Emeritus of the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai‘i, and Christine Ogura, Superintendent of Honouliuli National Historic Site.

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible.
