Planting with native plants can be fun and easy. They are adapted to the area already, can handle the sun, heavy rainfall and have minimal pest problems. Have you ever wondered what native plants you have in your yard and how to plant more?  Come listen to Allie Atkins talk about landscaping with Hawaiian Native Plants and how you can practice good conservation by using what you have in the yard already.

Lehua Lena Nursery has been propagating native plants in Mountain View for 35 years. The nursery was started as a way to convince people not to bulldoze their entire property of native forest and then plant introduced species, many of which turned out to be invasive. You will learn what plants are good for full sun, shade, rocky terrain and different soil types. Mountain View area is well known for anything from extremely wet weather to month long droughts.  There are main easy to grow plants that will do well in these kinds of conditions.

Come and talk story AND get a free native plant keiki to take home.  E Kanu Maoli Kakou!
