I Am A Scientist is transforming the Salt Lake-Moanalua Public Library into a SCIENCE LAB! Stop by anytime between 6PM-7PM to join in on this free program. You will:

  • Use a microscope to get a closer look at our endemic Opae’ula (shrimp).
  • Learn about conservation, ecology, and sustainable practices by studying Hawaii’s endemic Opae’ula (shrimp)

This program is brought to you by Chaminade University’s I Am A Scientist (IAS) program. A unique free STEM outreach program where professional scientists and university undergraduates teach STEM concepts and skills to students in their own school.  The program brings contemporary scientific equipment and supplies into the classroom, transforming it into an exciting laboratory where students experience success using innovative and career relevant hands-on activities in an exciting and supportive environment outside their standard classroom curriculum.  The program is in collaboration with Chaminade’s School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the Data Science, Analytics and Visualization Program, and the United Nations CIFAL Center Honolulu.

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required.
