Make Your Mark

In celebration of International Dot Day, Kapolei Public Library is holding a month-long “Make Your Mark and See Where it Takes You” activity for children and teens up to 18 years old.  International Dot Day is a global celebration of creativity, courage, and collaboration inspired by Peter H. Reynold’s book The Dot.  What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage, igniting a journey of self-discovery and sharing, which has gone on to inspire countless children and adults around the globe.

Our activity:

  • Using Microsoft Paint, create an image starting with a simple dot.
  • Submit a print or email a copy of your artwork to be displayed in our library.
  • Budding artists may use the computers behind the Children’s Reference Desk to design their creations.
  • Each print will be eligible to win one of two prizes and the winners will be determined by a lucky drawing.  One entry per person.  Winners will be announced during our International Dot Day celebration on Saturday, September 15 at 10:00 a.m.  Join us on this September 15 event for a fun morning featuring a storytime and dot-crafts!  Details may be found in a separate posting.
  • This Make Your Mark event runs from August 06 through September 12, 2018.

For more information, please call the library at 693.7050 and ask for the Children’s Reference staff.
