The Newbery Quiz Bowl is an annual reading competition unique to Hawai’i island. Students in the 4th-7th grades are eligible to form quiz bowl teams to represent their school or library in the competition.

Team members are expected to read selected Newbery Award-winning books, and answer questions about the books. Students must know answers, such as the author, title, main character, and important events of selected books.

If you are interested in joining the Kailua-Kona Public Library’s first-ever Newbery Quiz Bowl Team, please register. The registration period begins Friday, September 1, 2017, and will close on Saturday, September 30, 2017. Simply fill out a registration card in the Children’s Section, and turn it in to our library staff.
