Junk Journal 101

August 11, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Books

What is a Junk Journal? Search the Internet for definitions and samples of junk journals, then come to the library to create a junk journal of your own. Participants will make a junk journal with recycled 2-dimensional paper supplies, junk mail, magazine clippings, and other found and saved paper materials. Start saving your paper memorabilia. A list of suggestions will be available at the library or through email after registration. You decide if your junk journal will be decorative and/or practical as a diary, or a book with a theme such as a person, place or thing. Printed and plain cardstock, paper scraps, chipboard, and elastic will be provided for three signatures of 12-16 pages in one approximately 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ chipboard book bound with elastic for a fluid, flexible journal.

Bring your own paper trimmer, fussy cut scissors, decorative border punches, thematic die cut dies, wet and dry adhesives, all labeled with your name. Basic tools and supplies such as scissors, craft knife, glue stick, white glue, decorative scissors, and Big Shot die cut machine will be available. Bring your own lunch and beverages; there will be a half hour lunch break at noon.

This free program is limited to 10 teens and adults; for more information and registration, call the library at 832-3466. We are not making a smash book, glue book, vintage junk journal or art journal. All programs are subject to change. If you require an auxiliary aid or accommodation due to a disability, please call 832-3466 at least 7 days before the program date.
