To celebrate LGBTQ History Month, The Hawaiʻi State Library is hosting the exhibit Kaulike No Nā Mea A Pau: Toward Queer Justice, which explores the intersections of law, gender, and sexuality in Hawaiʻi . The exhibit may be viewed during the library’s open hours.
A collaboration between Lei Pua ‘Ala Queer Histories of Hawai’i and King Kamehameha V Judiciary History Center, this exhibit highlights complex ways in which gender and sexual minorities have been affected by evolving social, political, and legal landscapes in Hawai’i, from early times to present day – and how the Native Hawaiian culture continues to influence contemporary public policy in Hawai’i.
Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required.
