Event Navigation
Join local author Shawn “Speedy” Lopes and special guests as he discusses his new book Local Unrest: The Extraordinary True Story of the Birth and Rise of Hawaiian Punk, Indie and Underground Rock. Hawaii indie music icon Peter Bond will be providing an acoustic set during the festivities, and copies of this groundbreaking book will be for sale!
Honolulu Magazine calls Local Unrest, “a real-life story of a most unusual, colorful, and dynamic underground music scene.” Hawaii Public Radio calls it “a far-ranging oral history” that takes fans into the “most isolated and overlooked music scene in America.”
