Picture of the book cover Inclusion by Tom Coffman

Tom Coffman has been a reporter, historian, documentarian and author of several books focusing on modern Hawaiian political history. His body of work, spanning 50 years, documents the contributions of the Nisei veterans in shaping post-war Hawaii into a more equitable and just society.

His widely read Inclusion describes the crisis brought down on the Japanese community by the Pearl Harbor bombing, as well as the heroic response of the Nisei, their allies, and supporters.

Light refreshments will be available. This event is sponsored by the Nisei Veterans Legacy (NVL) and coincides with NVL’s exhibit at Salt Lake-Moanalua Public Library entitled: The Nisei Soldiers of World War II: Their Post-War Contributions to Hawaii and the Nation. This event is also supported by the Friends of the Salt Lake-Moanalua Public Library.

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required. Program schedule is subject to change.
