From Barbarian Gate-Crasher to Aristocratic Emblem

Dr. Sun-Hui Hung will be playing and discussing the historical context of the erhu, a two-stringed bowed musical instrument, sometimes known in the Western world as the Chinese violin or Chinese two-stringed fiddle, and its role in Chinese classical music composition, poetry and philosophy.

This program is produced by the UH Mānoa Outreach College’s Statewide Cultural Extension Program with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Hawaiʻi State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. Presented with generous support from the Friends of Molokai Public Library.
