Learn about the Nisei soldiers of World War II through an interesting and informative four-panel exhibit which provides a brief history of the various military units, as well as information about several veterans who went on to become prominent leaders in Hawaii, including former Governor George R. Ariyoshi, U.S. Senator Spark M. Matsunaga and U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye. “Nisei” stands for second generation and represents American citizens born in the United States whose parents immigrated from Japan. This exhibit was created by the Nisei Legacy Veterans organization.
The exhibit may be viewed during the library’s business hours.
A presentation about this exhibit will be on November 4, 2017. The main guest speaker is the Honorable George R. Ariyoshi. For more information about that event, please click here.
