Place in Poetry Workshop and Author Reading

April 21, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

In celebration of National Poetry Month there will be a free Place in Poetry Workshop and Author Reading by Dawn Leas.

Poet. Writer. Writing Coach. Reader.   Since childhood, Dawn Leas has been fascinated by words and the paths they take to form stories both fictional and true.

The 90 minute workshop will discuss how poets respond to, engage, honor, and invite readers into place.  Leas will discuss what place is and how individuals experience it in different ways.   She will also discuss the tools poets use to bring place alive in their work, give examples of poetry that is rooted in place, and quotes from several poets on what place means to them.  The audience will be lead through a writing prompt and given time to write their own poems.    Leas will also read from her own work which has been published in journals and Chapbook, I Know When to Keep Quiet.  For more information about Dawn Leas check her website: www.thehammockwriter.com.

All programs are subject to change.  If you require an auxillary aid or accommodation due to a disability please contact the library at least 7 days before the program date.
