Play With Me is a series of parent-and-child interactive playgroups designed for infants and toddlers. Each session is an hour long, with infant-toddler specialists there to support and guide parents as they engage in activities with their child.

The playgroup utilizes recent research on the neuroscience behind child brain development and Ellen Galinsky’s book, ‘The Mind in the Making’. The Five Building Basics are:

• Look: What catches your baby’s eye?
• Follow: Let children lead the way.
• Chat: Talk out loud and together.
• Take Turns: Back and forth interaction.
• Stretch: Make the moment last longer.

‘Play With Me’ is scheduled once a month (typically, the fourth Thursday of each month), excluding June and July 2020.

This program is brought to families at no charge through a collaboration between the Kailua-Kona Public Library, the Friends of the Libraries, Kona (F.O.L.K.), and the Kona Family Literacy and Interaction Program.
