
Please join us for a poetry reading with Arah Ko, who hails from Hawai’i. In celebration of the theme E Heluhelu Kākou : Mele, poetry is an art form that utilizes language in a unique way to express emotions, ideas, and experiences. Poetry uses rhythm and sound devices to create a musical and engaging experience for all. Program is suitable for teens and adults.
Arah is a writer and former library patron of the Kea’au Public & School Library. She is the author of Brine Orchid (YesYes Books, 2025) and the chapbook Animal Logic (Bull City Press, 2026). Her work has garnered nominations for the Pushcart Anthology, Best of Net, and Best New Poets, and it has been published or is forthcoming in renowned outlets such as American Poetry Review, Ninth Letter, The Threepenny Review, Poetry Northwest, and more. Arah earned her MFA in creative writing from The Ohio State University and is currently pursuing a PhD in creative writing at the University of Cincinnati.
