Safe Falling for Seniors

May 3, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 10:45 am

Abstract black silhouette of a generic human tipping backwards, about to fall.

Kupuna Aikido will teach you Aikido-based falling techniques that help protect your head, and prevent or reduce significant injury, such as broken hips, pelvis, arms, or shoulders.

Please note that this is not a martial arts class. This is a demonstration that will not involve physical audience participation.

Kupuna Aikido is a 501(c)3 organization made up of volunteer senior Aikido instructors whose mission is “To empower Hawaii’s kupuna with Aikido-based philosophies to preserve and protect their mobile independence.”

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required.  All programs are subject to change.  See a schedule of upcoming events on the HSPLS Events Calendar.
