CANCELED – Safety Around Dogs (feat. live Tail-Waggers!)

March 21, 2026 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am

K9 Therapets

CANCELED | This event is canceled due to the severe weather and changing conditions.

Join us as K9 Therapets of Hawaiʻi presents: Safety Around Dogs. Children and their caregivers will learn:

  • How to prevent dangerous encounters with dogs;
  • Basic dog behaviors and what they mean;
  • and a safe protocol for greeting an unfamiliar dog.

Practice these techniques with real therapy dogs in a meet-and-greet following the program.  This program is appropriate for ages 5 and up.  All young children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

All K9 Therapets are certified with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, a national therapy dog organization.  According to its founder, the mission of K9 Therapets of Hawaiʻi is to “spread joy and emotional support to those in need.”

Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity should contact library staff as soon as possible. Advance requests 48 hours or more before the event are encouraged, but not required.
All programs are subject to change. See a schedule of upcoming events on the HSPLS Events Calendar.
