The Friends of Lihue Library (FOLL), in partnership with booksellers at Talk Story bookstore, are proud to welcome author Sara Kehaulani Goo, author of Kuleana: A Story of Family, Land, and Legacy in Old Hawai’i as part of our ʻUmeke Kāʻeo Author Series!
In Kuleana, Sara tells the story of her family’s effort to hold onto ancestral land after receiving a sudden 500% property tax increase. The book explores generational land loss, identity and belonging, and what it means to carry kuleana while living far from home.Do not miss this incredible event with Sara Kehaulani Goo, who Washington Post reviewed as, “highlighting a crucial, modern perspective on Hawaiian history that contrasts with older, out-of-date narratives” (June 2025).
