Sewing with Savani Aupiu

In this two-part intermediate level sewing class, participants will learn clothing construction, different fabrics, how to read and cut out pattern pieces, sew in a zipper, and construct an article of clothing.

Savani Aupiu is a sewing enthusiast with 15 years experience. Motivated to make a quilt for a family member before she even owned a sewing machine, she taught herself how to sew watching Youtube. She loves to sew from scratch, upcycling clothing into cute tops, dresses, and skirts, and making clothes that fit!

Limited to 6 adults who must attend both sessions (total of 7 hours).

Participants should have basic understanding of how to work a sewing machine (threading the bobbin/needle and using the foot pedal).

Please call Kahuku Library 808-293-8935 to register.

Machines, supplies and a variety of donated fabrics will be provided. Participants may bring in fabric, too.

This program is made possible by the Friends of the Library Kahuku and the 2020 Hawaii Grant in Aid.

FYI – Beginner Sewing Classes will be made available in the fall.
