An event every week that begins at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, repeating until June 24, 2025

Read To Me International presents a six-session workshop for parents and caregivers with children ages 0 – 9. This program will provide parents with reading strategies and resources to practice in class, then apply it with their children at home and school, encouraging family reading time together every day.
Join this six-week program if you would like:
The program is led by Kamuela E. Yong. Kamuela was born and raised in Waimānalo, where he continues to live with his wife and two sons. Deeply rooted in his community, Kamuela actively participates in various ʻohana-centered programs and events. He finds great joy in learning and growing alongside his family and cherishes the time they spend together.
Kamuela is a professor of mathematics at the University of Hawaiʻi – West Oʻahu, where he is dedicated to creating culturally relevant curriculum that reflects and uplifts the diverse communities of Hawaiʻi. He is also a proud graduate of RTM10 (Read to Me 10 Minutes a Day) and has taken part in several programs hosted by Read to Me International.
As regular attendees of the Waimānalo Library’s events, Kamuela and his ʻohana value the library as a hub for community connection and lifelong learning. He is excited to share the importance of dialogic reading and literacy with other ʻohana in his community, continuing the cycle of learning and aloha.
