Hawaiian History Talk Story- Kauikeaouli, King Kamehameha III

March 24, 2025 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

King Kamehameha III

Come listen to local historian Boyd Bond speak about Kauikeaouli, King Kamehameha III!

“Kamehameha III had the longest reign of any Hawaiian monarch, just shy of 30 years, and although he was raised in the court of his famous father, he adapted his kingdom to the times he lived in, leaving behind a written Constitution, a Department of Education, and ambassadors and embassies in over 30 countries! His transition from a simple island social structure to modern international diplomacy reflects the changes his people were forced to absorb in the transition from their old world to this new paradigm, in just a single generation! Our State Motto was also created during the reign of Kamehameha III.”
