September’s book is The Reader (Sea of Ink and Gold, #1) by Traci Chee.
Sefia knows what it means to survive, living in the wilderness with her aunt after her father is murdered. When Aunt Nin is kidnapped, the only clue Sefia has is the odd rectangular object her father left behind, which she comes to realize is a book — in a world where reading is completely unheard of. With the help of this book, and also a mysterious stranger, she sets out on a quest to rescue Nin and get revenge.
