Teen Program: Learn About Horses, Caring For Them, and Volunteering

Build A Better World during Kailua-Kona Public Library’s Teen Summer Reading Program! Would you like to learn about horses and explore volunteer opportunities to care for or work with them? Therapeutic Horsemanship of Hawai’i – Kona will present an engaging program about:

  • Man’s long history of interaction with horses
  • Horses are our partners in work and play
  • The role horses have played in our art and language
  • Caring for horses
  • Volunteer opportunities

Meet Calypso and Peaches (in photo above) and learn how to lead a horse and do basic grooming; shoes are recommended for this activity. This program is for teens entering grades 6-12 in the fall, but all ages may attend. Children 8 years and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Program schedule is subject to change. Contact the library 15 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter or other special accommodations.
